Finding a School
So you've planned what classes you need to take to get into college; now you need to decide which school will get you the best education. And remember, education isn't only about academics! You need extracurricular activities, as well.
Picking a high school can be just as important as picking a college. Sometimes it's even more important. Get into a bad school, and colleges may not even look at you.
You want a school that will help you achieve, while making you look good on your college applications. And don't forget clubs, sports, leadership, and other activities outside of the classroom.
Use School Finder to look over the schools that you can choose from. Create a table that lists at least 5 schools and at least 4 criteria that you want them to meet.
For example:
- If you're interested in music, does it have a band or choir department? If it does, are they any good?
- Are you a Gifted student? Do you want to take more advanced classes that can help get you college credit? Make sure the school has a good Advanced Placement program.
- Like sports? If you want to be on a team, make sure the school you choose has one.
- What about the location? Can you walk or do you have to arrange transportation?
The table needs to have the name of the school and a yes/no answer to each of the requirements that YOU have chosen.
